In Islam, women are commanded to be dressed in Hijab, which means that a woman should be dressed modestly and cover the whole of her body. This dress seems awful to some who hate it based on cultural or ethnic concepts. They would mock at the Muslim women who wear Hijab, and consider it a sort of retardation and narrow-mindedness.
Sheikh Yusuf Estes clarifies why Muslim women dress the way they do and why they have to cover themselves up that way. He maintains that wearing Hijab is consistent with one’s nature and corresponds to the teachings of the three divine religions.
Almighty Allah says,
O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful. (Al-Ahzab 33:69)
