The (new) name I chose was one of the best names. It is one of the names of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
With these catching words, Mustapha commenced the story of his conversion from Christianity to the religion of Islam. Mustapha is an American African Muslim whose parents used to take to the church since an early age. He explains that Christianity was not his own choice but his parent’s choice for him. However, when he grew old, Mustapha met a Muslim brother whom he admired for his decent and noble manners. As actions speak louder, Mustapha concealed great respect for that man and tried to know the secret behind this high level of morality.
Nothing can be elaborative on that secret more than the hadiths of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in which he said, “I have been sent to perfect good manners.” (Al-Bukhari in Al-Adab Al-Mufrad) And he said, “Nothing is heavier on the believer’s Scale on the Day of Judgment than good character. For indeed Allah, Most High, is angered by the shameless obscene person.” (At-Tirmidhi)
It is the good manners that have acted like a magic that possessed the heart of our new Muslim brother. He respected that Muslim man and started searching for the facts that influenced his behavior. He was told about Islam and its impact on the hearts and about the Prophet of Islam who was on the peak of high moral standards. Narrated `Abdullah ibn `Amr: “The Prophet (peace be upon him) was neither coarse nor loud. He used to say “The best amongst you are those who have the best manners and character.” (Al-Bukhari)
