Julaybeeb…
A companion of the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him)
He was ugly, but he was a man given great faith from Allah
And it was never harm that he was ugly
He went to propose for marriage from a house
Whenever he proposed to a girl, she refused, as he was ugly and short
Women didn’t want him as a husband
Then he came to the prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) complaining about his companions
Saying: O Messenger of Allah isn’t that if someone believed in Allah and in you enters paradise and get married to fair women with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes
The prophet said: indeed
Then he said: so why your companions don’t want to marry me one of their daughters
The prophet then said: go to the house of so and so and tell them that the prophet is asking you to marry me your daughter
So, he went to the house of a man from Al-Ansar
Knocked the door, the man of the house came out, then he greeted him, and told him that the prophet is asking your daughter for marriage
They said, we agree, what an honor, we can’t ask for further honor.
such great and honorable relation
Then he said: but he is asking her to marry me
He said: O Allah may help us
And went inside to consult with his wife, and told her.
She said: the prophet of Allah asking to marry our daughter! What an honor
The man then said: but he asking to marry her to so and so
She then hesitated, and said, I wish he was Abu Bakr, Umar, or
Uthman
The Prophet of Allah couldn’t find someone else?
This daughter was pious, worshiper, and righteous
Who favors the order of Allah over the desires of the soul, and she was hearing that.
She said what is wrong with you?
They say: the prophet of Allah asking you to marry so and so
Then she said: what is your opinion?
They said: we are hesitant
The girl said: are you disobeying the order of the messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessing be upon him)?
Haven’t you read what Allah is saying?
“It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error”
I will marry him, and Allah will never waste my deeds
The man heard what she said, and returned to the prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessing be upon him)
And told him about what happened, then the face of the prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessing be upon him) was shining with joy
He was pleased with her, and supplicated to Allah for her
She gained the supplication of him (may Allah’s peace and blessing be upon him)
It was said that later she had much money without knowing the source.
Then on the night of the wedding, a caller called people to Jihad
saying: “O horses of Allah prepare”
Then he thought about whether to stay and sleep with his wife on the first night of the marriage, with all its glamor
Or rather to answer the caller of Allah the Almighty
Then he left the girl, and rode for Jihad
The battle was over
The prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessing be upon him) was checking his companions
He said: are you missing anyone?
They said so and so, and so and so are missing, and they didn’t know about this righteous man, that no one knows about
The prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessing be upon him) asked again: Are you missing anyone?
They said so and so, and so and so are missing, and didn’t mention that man
Then the prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessing be upon him) said:
But my brother Julaybeeb is missing, come with me to search for him
The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessing be upon him) searched for him
And found him killed, with seven bodies of disbelievers around him
The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessing be upon him) held him with his arms
And wiped the dirt of his face, and said: he killed seven disbelievers, then they killed him
He is from me, and I’m from him, and repeated it three times
Indeed, there is no god but Allah
What did this man offer?
He offered little, yet he gained much more.
