Who Is the Fool?

“In fact, it is they who are the fools” (Al-Baqarah 2:13)

It’s like someone who dived deep under the sea

undertaking dangers and difficulties, and when he found the pearls, he left them and took the empty oyster shells

Is not he a fool?

A fool is he who comes into this world and leaves empty-handed except that he ate, drank, slept and had fun

Like animals:

“They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray in their way” (Al-Furqan 25:44)

“They are as if they were pieces of wood propped up (Al-Munafiqun 63:4)

“The likeness of those who are entrusted with the Torah and then did not take it on is like that of a donkey who carries volumes of books.” (Al-Jumu`ah 62:5)

“His likeness is as the likeness of a dog: if you chase him, he pants, or if you leave him, he still pants.” (Al-A`raf 7:176)

Who Are the Hypocrites?

These are the characteristics of the hypocrites in the Qur’an

“In fact, it is they who are the fools” (Al-Baqarah 2:13)

When someone, for example, goes abroad to earn a doctoral degree from a Western university

It is expected that he will come back to be in prominent position, a fancy home

Yet, he forgot his core mission; degenerated into self-indulgence and nightclubs and ended up becoming a beggar

Is not he a fool?

Despite being eligible for such a highly prestigious position

He left all this behind for temporary pleasure

Allah (Exalted be He) said: “In fact, it is they who are the fools” (Al-Baqarah 2:13)

An idiotic is he who disobeys Allah

This who disobeys Allah and cares neither about death, the afterlife,

reckoning, the Barzakh (the barrier), Paradise, nor Hell

He just lives the moment: amusing himself, making money no matter legally or Illegally

This is the fool! The idiot!

That’s why the deviant is regarded an idiot

Imam Al-Ghazali said:

“Oh my own self! If a doctor warns you against eating a particular food that you like, you definitely will stop eating this food. Are the doctor’s instructions more authentic to you than Allah’s?

Then, how disbelieving you are! Is the doctor’s warning more fearful to you than Allah’s! Then, how ignorant you are!”
